We want to give you an update on the summer. We are currently in the process of updating cabins at Camp Joslin – an exciting and much needed upgrade to allow for newer, larger cabins that will also have their own bathrooms and showers. However, due to construction delays and supply chain issues, construction will still be underway during the summer program. After much consideration, we believe that for the safety of all and for the best camp experience, Camp Joslin will be held at Clara Barton Camp this summer. Cabins will be designated to separate Camp Joslin and Clara Barton participants.
Even though construction is happening in the cabin areas of Camp Joslin, campers will still be traveling over to use the pond, climbing wall, wiffle ball fields, and mini golf course. Also, campers will be able to go to Camp Joslin to do the “Hike to Heck,” a fun, song-filled hike through our very own mud pit. We understand that the combination of both camps may be disappointing news, but we will ensure that campers get to experience ample time at Camp Joslin for activities, and steering clear of any construction will help to make sure all stay safe during their stay at camp.
Additionally, we would like to let everyone know that campers attending Sessions 4, 4A, and 4B at both Clara Barton Camp and Camp Joslin may now bring a friend or sibling who does not have diabetes with them to these sessions. The friend or sibling will also pay a $50 registration fee and a reduced camp fee. Space is limited for friends and siblings, and no financial aid is available for this group.
