*Blood glucose monitoring is conducted at least 4 times a day, and whenever the camper wants to check. The schedule is developed so that ½ hour before the meal, campers who receive Regular insulin can take their dose. Campers who are on Humalog insulin will take their insulin 5 - 10 minutes before a meal. Anyone who takes Humalog (including insulin pumpers) based on a carbohydrate to insulin ratio will give their dose at the dining hall once the carbohydrate intake is determined.
